HIPAA Compliance
HIPAA means Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. HIPAA regulations are created to protect confidential health information through improved security standards and define certain requirements for storing patient information.

MedicoTrans as a medical transcription company has accepted the challenges put up by HIPAA to the healthcare Industry and to its customers. MedicoTrans has executed some technical as well as administrative measures following the HIPAA regulations in order to maintain the privacy and personal health information about patients. As a responsive medical transcription company, we have adopted a scientific approach towards Medical Transcription process so as to achieve HIPAA compliance within the predefined timeframes.
Data Security
MedicoTrans insures data security at every stage of medical transcription.
We have initiated 448-bit strong encryption of all transcribed files while in transit, using SecureIT software. Also, our dictation files are securely transferred to the FTP site and never leave our servers. The MTs only hear the dictation on their transcription software. The dictation is not saved on their computers. During the transcription process too, the transcribed file cannot be saved on the transcriptionists’ computers. In effect, we have put in place a strong-as-a-fort data security system by which no unauthorized person has access to either the dictation or the transcribed file. Also, HIPAA compliance requirements are met by limiting access to applications by user ID and password, role-based access, context-based access, and user-based access.
MedicoTrans’ administrative procedures understand the importance of processing patient data confidentiality. Our security and privacy policies guarantee the security of health information. As a professional medical transcription company, we meet all the HIPAA regulations related to electronic transmission of patient information.
MedicoTrans carries out regular technical evaluations to make sure that all our systems meet the security requirements. Every staff member that handles patient data has signed a privacy agreement.
